Really? Huh. I haven't really had a problem with being short on mana yet, though that may honestly be up to the variance of the cards between games. Thanks for giving it a go, at least!

Well, I never got Seething song, and Explosive is great, but a little slow to get into play, have you considered land enchants? They trend towards the lower cost, but double the mana a land can have I believe

Land enchantments sound like something I could check out. Seething song is actually super useful if you get it. I can use it to drop Nissa's Renewal on turn three, and, if I am ever short on lands, use it to make more mana for what I need. Super clutch more often than not. But I'll totally check out those land enchantments. Might actually end up replacing Explosive Vegetation.

Cards like that sync really well with the Hydras, just because of the scaling mana costs and the counters that they give you
