Infinite Mana Combo —June 23, 2016

So, I decided to add an infinite mana/planeswalker activation combo between Basalt Monolith, Rings of Brighthearth, Tezzeret the Seeker, and The Chain Veil. With this, if the combo goes off, I gain infinite colorless mana and infinite planeswalker activations through Tezzeret's interaction with untapping Basalt Monolith and The Chain Veil. If I have something like Gilded Lotus or Chromatic Lantern on the field, I can also acquire infinite mana of all colors in combination with this.

Using the combo with a number of Planeswalkers in this deck, such as Ashiok, Karn, and Ugin allows me to kill every one of my opponents in the same turn.

Well, my feeling is (from just a quick glance), you're building this deck like you're drafting our friend's Legacy Cube. Basically, Esper Value. Not to say that isn't a legitimate deck idea, it certainly is, Esper has lots of versatile value that can be insanely good when set up next to each other. But that's a deck I would probably not suggest literally at all for a new(er) player. A, it's super, super expensive, and B, going to be really difficult to build in a way that's consistent and efficient. Oloro is a really strong commander. I feel it would be in your best interest to pick a end game strategy (which I think you've probably drafted enough to kind of know how some of the different strategies play out, but if not, feel free to pop me or Ked a message about fun Esper wincons), and then build around that. You mentioned earlier today you were thinking about Esper Superfriends, in which case I would recommend Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Oath of Jace, and a few other cards I'll save for a lengthier conversation. But some of the cards I'm seeing here are for Esper Enchantments (Serra's Sanctum, Academy Rector), Esper Instants (about half your instants are actually awful in Commander unless you're playing a deck around that theme), and Esper Random Stuff That Doesn't Really Synergize And I'm Not Really Sure Why It's Here.

Tl;dr, you have lots of high value cards that need the deck to be built around them that don't synergize like at all.

I just want to point out that Glacial Chasm is a cumulative upkeep. Upkeep 1, 2 life. Upkeep 2, 4 life. Upkeep 3, 6 life, so on and so forth.

Also, you have no way to get rid of Flagstones of Trokair effectively/efficiently, so I personally feel it should just be another plains.

Oh, and I would personally play Blazing Archon over Avacyn. You don't really care about your permanents being indestructible. Like, it's cool, but what does she do in your deck? There aren't a lot of ways to remove Planeswalkers that people are going to mainboard (Dreadbore, Ruinous Path, and Hero's Downfall aren't really that good in this format), so you're not really worried about losing your main wincon. She technically gets around your own board wipes (Wrath, Verdict, Rebirth, and Decree), but your board wipes don't hit your Planeswalkers. They exclusively hit creatures, which in your deck, you don't care about. If you were playing Nevinyrral's Disk, MAYBE you have an argument for her (because it does blow up your only protecting - your pillowforty enchantments), but you're not right now, and even if you were, I still don't feel she's worth it for you. 2 cards out of 99... yeah, not feelin' it. Sure, you also have 3 tutors that can get either the Disk or Avacyn, but I personally think if you're spending one of those tutors on Disk or Avacyn, you just wasted the tutor, the mana, and probably your turn. Another option is to attack with her, but... c'mon. You're not an attack-y deck, you're a Superfriends deck. So the only argument left for her is she, alone, becomes a good blocker (because you WANT your Rector to die, but you probably don't want to block with the few other creatures you have, assuming you have all five of them out at the same time). Sure. I let your Avacyn resolve because I don't care, and swing in with 2,000 1/1 Goblin tokens and don't give a f*** about your Avacyn, I kill you anyway.

Tl;dr, play Blazing Archon instead of Avacyn. The only thing Avacyn has going for her in your deck, Blazing Archon does 1000x better.
