First round of upgrades —Jan. 3, 2017

Mostly stuff that my FLGS was sold-out of.

This first build is running extra counterspells both for filler (cards are in the mail) and to see what it's like. I want this deck to be control-y but one can definitely overdo it on counterspells--especially without some sort of special bonus to make them better, such as a discount (Mizzix of the Izmagnus), recursion (which I have a bit of), or some special added effect (Guile). We'll see how it works.

Nice build; +1. One thing you may find out through playtesting (which I did) is that with Brago as your Commander, you may not need as many (if any) flicker instants. Let us know if that's the case.

I thought the same thing. My current reasoning is that they are backup flickers for when Brago draws too much hate--either being sent back to the command zone or an effect like Pacifism--or for protection--either targetted effects and wipes or for removing attacking problem-creatures.

My first impression, playtesting against Khanate of the Golden Headbutt, was that I might need more creatures. Value creatures; not necessarily flicker targets. Lowish CMC (not a lot of great blink targets in the lower numbers, it seems). A couple of walls or something--just a few more things to protect myself and/or my boardstate. I'm definitely not trying to make an agro deck out of this; I'm just trying to go from light to medium-light creatures. Maybe. Four-player games might be different though.

I could go full pillowfort instead. I dunno. Either way I'll have to drop the counterspell suite or the flicker suite. Perhaps just trim both back halfway. There are still a few cards in the mail so I guess I can just playtest each version and see what sticks to the wall.
