No endings, merely new beginnings —Jan. 19, 2023

This post is here to function as a journal entry of sorts to remember the origins of the deck.

Sometime in 2015, two years after I was introduced to Magic, I opened a promo Temple of Mystery and Prophet of Kruphix from a Clash Pack. Wanting the see these beautiful cards on the table over and over again I decided to create my first EDH deck. Since then many decks have come and gone, but this Simic deck remained. For the longest time Prime Speaker Zegana helmed this deck and I optimized it - pushing it to it's absolute, casual power (and monetary), limit. Due to financial need, I have stripped my original Prime Speaker Zegana deck of certain parts. It felt disingenuous to the original idea and concept of the deck to rebuild her from the ground up (bling deck, chasing the most valuable editions of cards) so she is gone now. Her spirit remains, however: play big splashy spells too early for my own good. This deck is special to me in that it has gone through as much change as I have over nearly a decade of both our lives and I am appreciative of this moment to reflect on what was and what will continue to be. There are no endings. Merely changes and new beginnings.
