MTG Combo: Maralen of the Mornsong + Stranglehold
Maralen prevents players from drawing and instead replaces it with searching at the cost of life. Stranglehold prevents your opponents from searching their libraries. So every turn your opponents can't draw cards and lose 3 life.

I know you said that stranglehold wasn't a card you found useful, but if you wanted to be evil, you could include its combo piece and play Maralen of the Mornsong + Stranglehold . Can you tell I own a stax deck? And yet, I don't play that one because I know my friends would kill me. Still, I love that combo so much!
