Magic came into my world when I found some magic cards, almost soaked through, on the rain-drenched path between school and home. Dark Banishing from the Tempest set was one of them (and if you look at the flavour text for that, it's quite fitting or ironic, depending on how you look at it). Shortly after, a friend bought me a deck from Portals (Blue) for my 13th birthday. After that, collecting the cards, from vending machines, fat packs, booster packs, has tided me through innumerable moments when I just wanted to run away to a fantasy world. Now that I'm old, MTG will always bring me back to the passion and lost innocence of youth. In recent years, I've tried to build decks, paying more attention to rules and formats and competitive strategies on Forge. My poor sisters have often been dragged into helping me test them out (when they beat me with terrible frequency). I still mourn Gerrard and Urza, and now dare to hope that the Sorin, Nahiri, and Ugin trio will have roles in a story every bit as beautiful, every bit as tragic, and every bit as epic.
