Yavimaya Elder, tutor or draw first?

When I activate Yavimaya Elder 's ability, do I draw the card before or after search my library for the basic lands?

You would search first. The ability to draw a card would go on the stack, and then the search ability, and then you go from the top of the stack down, searching for the lands and then drawing after a shuffle. The first ability is a may ability though, so you don't have to if you've stacked using Ponder or something.

If he's by himself and you're not messing around with other stuff at the same time, the way he works optimizes your probability of getting a spell and 2 lands instead of 3 land.
