Xenagos, the Reveler ultimate and scry lands

Asked by wonder_llama 10 years ago

if I -6 a Xenagos, The Reveler and exile and play a Temple of Malice , do I get to use the scry right then in the middle of the xenagos ultimate or do I have to reveal and exile the 7 cards then scry?

You reveal all of the cards at once and then you can put the relevant cards onto the battlefield. Any etb effects such as the scry ability of Temple of Malice would happen after all the cards go onto the battlefield.

Worth noting that since you control the permanents, you control what order any of the triggered abilities go on the stack.

no, the scry trigger goes onto the stack after xenagos's ability resolves.

Sorry, let me rephrase part of that. You exile the cards not reveal.

thanks for the explanation and clearing that up for me. I thought of it as I exile 7 cards 1 by 1 not 7 at a time. now I get it.

Even if you did exile 7 1 by 1, you would still have to wait until the ability was finished resolving

Yes, sorry. I didn't mean to emphasize that the cards being exiled simultaneously as the main sticking point. The pertinent thing happening here is that the first part of Xenagos' ability must finish resolving before you move onto the next part.
