Xenagos, God of Revels

Asked by JonRules12 11 years ago

So with the dual colour devotion on Xenagos if you have 6 devotion to green and 1 to red, is he then a creature? Furthermore if you have 7 devotion to red and 0 to green is he a creature or not?

Every mana symbol is checked to see whether it is any of red or green (or hybrid red/green) and each symbol that returns a "yes" counts towards that devotion. If the total is 7 ormore, Xenagos is a creature.

Both of your examples would make Xenagos a creature, but the second example is impossible since he himself provides 1 devotion each to red and green.

And that's why I am really bad at this game. Thank you very much, that makes sense.

Please link all cards in your question. There's a formatting guide linked at the bottom of the page.Xenagos, God of Revels

Yeah people are pretty tight about linking even though they can just copy and paste Xenagos, God of Revels into google or into the tappedout card search. I guess that's laziness, huh?

Its not really laziness. People are going out of their way to answer questions for you. The least you could do is take 2 seconds to put brackets around card names to make it easier for them.

Mmm, I suppose. Sometimes it slips my mind because it's really not all that important. Chances are that people who know the answer to the question know the card that I am talking about with or without it being linked.

A lot of rules questions can be answered by a careful rereading of a card's text. Or else a search of its Gatherer rulings. Both of those are easily accessible if you link the card.

@JonRules12 it's not laziness. A lot of questions asked here are complex and involve as many as 5 or 6 cards with interactive effects. Being able to look back and forth between them all quickly without swapping windows makes it much easier to address those questions.

Might as well just set the policy to link everything.

@JonRules12 Have a look at http://tappedout.net/mtg-questions/noob-question-about-genesis-wave/ and tell me if you think nobody ought to be linking cards in their questions?

My question involves one interaction with a commonly played standard card. That's true and in that example I would probably link cards too.

Better to have it be the general policy than try to figure out "when" a question is complex enough or uses old enough cards to matter.

Regardless of how well-known you think a card is, the fact of the matter is that most questions on this site can be answered by reading the cards (or their Gatherer rulings). Regardless, it's still helpful to see the cards. And, as Devonin said, there's no way to draw a line as to what is and isn't unfamiliar enough to warrant linking.

Also, laziness is a poor counterpoint. Sure, we could find cards by going to Google, but you could have answered this question by going to Google.
