Wrath of God + Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet
Asked by smatdu42 8 years ago
i control a Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and my oponent have 3 non token creatures
Do i get 3zombies if a Wrath of God hit the ground?
When Wrath of God resolves, the 3 non-token creatures and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet will hit the graveyard. This will trigger Kalitas and create 3 tokens that won't hit the graveyard because at the time they hit the field, Wrath of God will have resolved.

so the board state will be kalitas and 3oponent creature exile and 3zombies on my side right?

Yes. There is actually a ruling on gatherer about this.
1/22/2016: If Kalitas dies at the same time as creatures your opponents control, those creature cards will be exiled and you'll get that many Zombies.

Kalitas will be in the graveyard, the 3 non-token creatures exiled and you have 3 tokens.

Wrath will go on stack, (assumably) it goes un-countered. The 3 Non-token creatures die and so does Kalitas. This trigger's Kalitas's ability putting it on stack and resolving the Wrath of god. then Kalitas's ability (Assumably) goes un-countered and you get 3 tokens.

@JeskaiNinja: What you described there never happens in Magic - the stack always resolves first-in last-out, not with Wrath of God somewhere in the middle, as you described. Kalitas ability is furthermore not a triggered ability and couldn't be countered if you tried, not even by the game rules or anything else.
The exact order of what happens is this:
- Wrath of God is cast, therefore put on the stack, then resolves
- Kalitas and 3 token creatures the opponent controls are being destroyed and would be put into the graveyard
- Kalitas's replacement effect will instead exile the token creatures and instead put a 2/2 black zombie under it's owner's control for each token creature exiled this way
The final board state will be as Chandrian described above, not as smatdu42 last said, because Kalitas itself will not be exiled.

Also, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet has exactly 0 triggered abilities. He has a static ability that creates a replacement effect, not a triggered ability. Replacement effects do not use the stack. They simply replace one thing happening with another happening instead.
