Who is responsible for a Genesis Chamber trigger?

Asked by greensaleen 11 years ago

If I play Genesis Chamber , and I control the card. Is it my responsibility to remember all the tokens gained by me and my opponent, or just ones from creatures I play? In which case is it my opponents responsibility to remember his own tokens from MY card? I ask this from a competitive/pro REL standpoint.

You control Genesis Chamber, so it is your trigger. You have the responsibility to remember your triggers, if you intentionally miss one, it is Cheating and you may be DQ'd. Your opponent is not responsible for remembering any triggers, nor does he have to point out if you missed one unintentionally.

If you do miss a trigger unintentionally, your opponent will get the choice whether to put that trigger on the stack or not. You may also get a Warning, but I am not sure about that, as I don't know if Genesis Chamber's ability is considered detrimental or not.

The controller of an object is responsible for all triggers from it. So you must indicate the trigger and put it on the stack. Upon resolution of the trigger the controller of the creature card that triggers it puts a myr token into play.

Since it is the owner of an object that is responsible for that object's triggers Akroan Horse 's triggers are the responsibility of Akroan Horse 's controller which most of the time is going to be different than its owner. Akroan Horse is also a good example of if a object switches controllers before Genesis Chamber resolves. The controller of the creature when Genesis Chamber resolves is the one who puts the myr into play so be careful stacking triggers if you control both a control switch and a Genesis Chamber trigger.

Genesis Chamber 's trigger is considered detrimental when it affects your opponent. If you miss its trigger at such a time, you will receive a Warning at Competitive REL.

From the IPG:

"The controller of a missed triggered ability receives a Warning only if the triggered ability is usually considered detrimental for the controlling player. The current game state is not a factor in determining this, though symmetrical abilities (such as Howling Mine) may be considered usually detrimental or not depending on who is being affected. "
