Whip of Erebos

Asked by banjomayhem 10 years ago

Is the Whip of Erebos considered a black card due to its casting cost or is it colorless due to being an artifact or is it both, sort of like a multicolored card? Mostly just curious if it triggers Vampire Nocturnus benefits. Thanks.

Rules questions belong in the Q & A

Whip of Erebos is a black card and will grant Vampire Nocturnus es benefits.

The Deck Help forum is for posts that request help with a particular deck. Rules questions belong in the Q&A, which is linked in the header bar. I can't convert this to a question, and it doesn't belong here, so it's getting moved to the orphanage.

Being an artifact does not automatically make something colorless. Color is determined by colored mana symbols in the mana cost, color indicators, and characteristic-defining abilities.

Whip of Erebos has black mana symbols in its mana cost, so it's a black card.

Also, note that Vampire Nocturnus 's abilities are not triggered. They are static.
