When Scion of the Ur-Dragon uses its ability does it lose its legendary status (unless of course it changes into a legendary dragon).

Since Scion of the Ur-Dragon actually becomes the chosen dragon, with no extra abilities, could you Clone the copied creature? I assume a Clone would become (and remain) whatever was copied.

It seems like you're asking two different questions.

When an object becomes a copy of another object, it copies basically all of the written text of that object. Scion of the Ur-Dragon will lose the legendary supertype if it copies a nonlegendary permanent.

If you Clone Scion of the Ur-Dragon , your Clone will become a copy of the original object. This is because copy effects copy the written text of the object plus any characteristics modified by copy effects. Clone will see a Scion of the Ur-Dragon that has copied another permanent, but because Scion of the Ur-Dragon doesn't retain any of its own characteristics, Clone will simply copy all of the characteristics transferred to Scion of the Ur-Dragon by Scion of the Ur-Dragon 's copy ability.

Scion of the Ur-Dragon becomes a copy of the creature card, which includes copying its types and supertypes. Unless the Dragon it copies is also legendary (such as Nicol Bolas ), it will not be legendary.

When you Clone something, the Clone copies the printed characteristics of the card being copied as modified by other copy effects. So if you make Scion of the Ur-Dragon a copy of, say, Dragon Tyrant , and then Clone the Scion-turned-Tyrant, the Clone will effectively just be a Dragon Tyrant (though there are likely corner cases which make the difference relevant).
