When I play Dragon's Herald can I sacfrice less than 3 creatures?
Asked by vic 8 years ago
For example, can I use an Odious Trow to fulfill both the green and the black? I've heard that I can, but the fact that Dragon's Herald uses the word "creature" in 3 separate instances makes me wonder.

Generally, it's best to include the rule itself in your answer instead of just saying there is one. As such, here is the relevant ruling:
10/1/2008 To activate the ability, you must sacrifice three different creatures. You can't sacrifice just one three-colored creature, for example.

Thanks both! My friend was wrong.
Raging_Squiggle where did you find that ruling? I'd like to be able to look things like this up for myself.

MTG Gatherer Website. Just search for any card in question and often times there will be additional rulings on the page. The link I have here for you takes you to Dragon's Herald's page.

You must sacrifice three separate creatures. A ruling on the card from 10/2008 clears that up.
