When Blood artist dies to a board wipe does it activate for everyone?
Asked by jjddkk 13 years ago
If I have Blood Artist on the field with 2 other creatures and my opponent has 4 creatures, If I did a board wipe such as using a high powered Black Sun's Zenith , would my opponent then lose 7 life and I gain 7 life? (for both mine and my opponent's creatures?)
Because he is dying at the same time as the other creatures I wasn't sure if his ability still worked for all of them.

As it does not state "Blood Artist or another creature you control", it's all creatures, so it will deal 7 damage(among 7 target players, one for each trigger, tho taking damage yourself is counter-intuitive ;) ), and you will gain 7 life. It sees everything dying at the same time, including himself.

Creatures that die at the same time can all see each other, and abilities on them that trigger for things dying will trigger.
This is because a "leaves the battlefield" triggered ability triggers from the battlefield, and uses information from right before the triggering object left the battlefield to figure out if and how it should trigger. Right before everything died, Blood Artist
was on the battlefield and had that ability, so it triggers.
