What happens if someone tries to Pull from Eternity an opponent's Torrent Elemental while Rest in Peace is resolved?

My play group runs into some weird interactions every once in a while and this is one of them. Here's the scenario: I try to activate Torrent Elemental's ability while it is in exile AND Rest in Peace is resolved, but then an opponent responds by casting Pull from Eternity targeting Torrent Elemental. Does Torrent Elemental bounce around and the ability is disrupted because the ability doesn't "see the same Torrent Elemental" or does Pull from Eternity just do nothing here?

Please link all cards in your question: Pull from Eternity, Torrent Elemental, Rest in Peace.

I believe the relevant rule here is:

"400.8. If an object in the exile zone is exiled, it doesnt change zones, but it becomes a new object that has just been exiled."

So, the Pull from Eternity attempts to move the Torrent Elemental to the graveyard but Rest in Peace's replacement effect causes it to be exiled instead and, while the Elemental doesn't change zones, it does become a new object and so the original activation of its ability is now trying to move an object that doesn't exist and so does nothing.
