what exactly does populate do?

Asked by elyk24 10 years ago

I have cards that let me use an ability called populate, but i dont know if it means a copy of "each" token or a single "target" token.

Sundering Growth for reference.

As the spell with Populate resolves, you choose a creature token you control. If you have two Spirit tokens from Sandsteppe Outcasts and a Goblin token from Hordeling Outburst, you choose a single creature token (not a type of token). Then, to simplify it, you put another of those tokens onto the battlefield. If you choose a Spirit token, you will get another Spirit token. If you choose the Goblin token, you will get another Goblin token.

Very simply put, populate allows you to make a copy of any creature token you control.

It lets you make a single copy of any creature token you control. It's only a single target

When you populate, you basically copy a creature token.

Example: I have a 1/1 White soldier token on the battlefield. Then, I play Sundering Growth. I get to have that 1/1 White soldier cloned now.
