Viridian Emissary and Altar's Reap

Asked by Penumbra 13 years ago

So when I use card:Altar's Reap on the emissary because i have to sacrifice as part of the cost, do i search for a land before or after drawing?

You cast card:Altar's Reap by placing it on the stack and paying its costs. One of these costs is the sacrifice of a creature. If you sacrifice Viridian Emissary , then its ability will trigger and wait to go onto the stack until you are finished casting Altar's Reap. Emissary's death trigger will then go onto the stack on top of Altar's Reap.

Since the stack resolves top-down, you will resolve Emissary's trigger, then Altar's Reap. You'll end up fetching the land, then drawing.

As he said, Yes you do get to search for the basic land.

Because Viridian Emissary is being placed into the graveyard from the battlefield his effect will trigger and you get to search for the land, and then draw two cards.
