Using Wild Pair to get Kalonian Hydra out

Ok, so Wild Pair allows me to search my library and put onto the battlefield a creature with the same total power and toughness as the one I cast from my hand. Kalonian Hydra has a power and toughness of 0/0 but enters the battlefield with four +1/+1 counters.
This really ends up a double ended question of 1; does Wild Pair count Kalonian Hydra 's total as 8 due to the +1/+1 counters, and if not, then 2; if I cast a creature that somehow enters the field as a 0/0 would that trigger Wild Pair before being sent to the grave by state-based effect?

Kalonian Hydra is a 0/0 in all zones except the battlefield because it can't have counters in other zones. The counters are only added by a replacement effect that modifies how Kalonian Hydra enters the battlefield.
If a 0/0 enters the battlefield under your control, Wild Pair 's ability triggers (assuming you cast that creature), then state-based actions put that creature into its owner's graveyard, then the ability goes onto the stack. You'll be able to find Kalonian Hydra with this instance of the ability because Kalonian Hydra is a 0/0 in the library.
If you cast Kalonian Hydra , Wild Pair 's ability will trigger when Kalonian Hydra resolves. Kalonian Hydra enters the battlefield as a 4/4 due to its replacement effect, so Wild Pair 's ability will allow you to find a creature card with total P/T 8.
Of note is the fact that Wild Pair 's ability checks the first creature's P/T when the ability resolves, so you can pump that creature in response to the ability in order to find a larger creature.

Edit: Also wondering what applies in the reverse scenario, if Kalonian Hydra is played from my hand, does Wild Pair let me search for a card with a total of 0, or a total of 8?
