Timing, stack, and activated abilities?

Daxos the Returned in playPlayer pays 1wb for activated ability for 1/1 w/b spiritThen plays Luminarch Ascension then passes priorityI play Wretched Confluence

How does this situation resolve?

In your scenario, I'm assuming the Daxos the Returned player already has 1 experience counter.

He activates the ability and has a creature token that is currently a 1/1. He then casts Luminarch Ascension. Daxos the Returned's experience ability triggers immediately and is put on to the stack above the Ascension. At this time, the active player may pass priority and allow you to cast Wretched Confluence using whatever modes you decide. Then your Wretched Confluence resolves, the triggered ability resolves, increasing the token from a 1/1 to a 2/2. Then Luminarch Ascension resolves. The stack is now empty.

It's the same answer. Getting rid of Daxos doesn't change the fact that his ability triggered and was put onto the stack. The trigger will still resolve regardless of whether or not Daxos is still on the battlefield. Your opponent will get the experience counter.
