Thalia, Guardian of Thraben question

Asked by Gambit 13 years ago

I was wondering, it's ability, does that affect ONLY my opponent's sorcery, instants, enchantments and so forth? Or all players?

bcurran says... Accepted answer #1

No. It simply says "Spells cost more", without specifying the caster. Compare to Grand Arbiter Augustin IVMTG Card: Grand Arbiter Augustin IV for contrast.

It affects everyone. If it only affected you, or only your opponents, it would say so.

Ok, so we have 1 that says no it doesn't affect my opponents; correct bcurran? hunter9000 says we all are affected. Now, I'm lost.

bcurran is also saying it affects everyone. He linked to Grand Arbiter as an example of an ability that specifies who it affects.

It affects everyone, if it would apply to only opponents or only yourself, it would be written on it.

It would be written like this :

Noncreature spells you play cost 1 more to cast

Noncreature spells your opponents play cost 1 more to cast

Right. I didn't notice the "or...." in your question; I thought only said "Does it only affect my opponents?", to which the answer is no.
