talent of the telepath and x costs

so lets say i cast Talent of the Telepath and target my opponent and a Secure the Wastes is revealed if i choose to cast it would i get infinite sources or does the spell fizzle because i didnt tap for x or do i tap for x to boost it up to get tokens?

In any situation where you can cast a spell with X in its cost, and you are casting it without paying its mana cost, X always equals zero. There is no situation where you can change that, as far as I am aware.

So if you dont pay the cost, you dont get the reward.

What he said above. When casting a spell that has in its mana cost, without paying the mana cost, is always automatically .

  1. no, you would get 0 tokens, because the spell is cast without paying its mana cost with as .

  2. In order for a spell to "fizzle", all the targets for the spell must become illegal before the resolution. Secure the Wastes doesn't target so it doesn't fizzle. It will resolve and do nothing.

  3. You don't get to pay mana into X. If you did then you wouldn't be "casting it without paying its mana cost".
