Stubborn Denial
Asked by Chinaman69 9 years ago
bit confused with this card's wording Stubborn Denial
does it mean when I have a creature with power 4 or greater, the effect of the Stubborn Denial changes from "counter target noncreature spell" to "counter target spell".
OR
is it still counter target non creature spell except it just removed the "unless pay 1 mana" stipulation

When you cast Stubborn Denial, you must target a noncreature spell. If you have a creature with power 4 or greater, then Stubborn Denial will hard-counter that noncreature spell rather than Force Spikeing it.

"Instead" indicates that the ferocious clause represents a replacement effect. If ferocious is true, then the spell's instructions are to "counter target noncreature spell" rather than to "counter target noncreature spell unless its controller pays ." The original effect of the spell is replaced by the effect prescribed by the ferocious clause.

or wait maybe this was a stupid question....just realized i won't be able to target any other spell in the first place. but please, confirm my stupidity to clear things up for me nonetheless
