Strive mechanic

Asked by Fizzz 11 years ago

If I choose to pay the strive cost several times, when do the additional effects come into place?

For example Launch the Fleet with 3 additional targets. Do they all get the ability at the same time? Or in the order I chose?

Also, would this allow in some weird scenario, target the tokens Akroan Crusader generates?

Since it's an alternative cost, it alters the spell, and changes it. So it would be simultaneous, like any other multi-target spell.

All targets of a Strive card get the ability/effect at the same time (when the spell resolves). You choose the targets for the Strive spell (or any spell/effect) as part of the casting process. Akroan Crusader 's ability won't even trigger until the spell is fully cast, and of course by then the targets for the spell will be chosen.

You choose the targets during the casting of the spell, and when the spell resolves it affects each of its targets.

As you cast a spell with strive, you can choose any number of targets, paying an additional cost for each target beyond the first. If you want to cast Ajani's Presence targeting one creature, it costs just White Mana. For each creature you target beyond the first, Ajani's Presence costs an additional 2W to cast. So it would cost 2WW to target two creatures, 4WWW to target three creatures, and so on.
