Searing Blaze and land fall trigger
Asked by mmdw34 11 years ago
If I play a fetch land, crack it and play the land will the land Searing Blaze landfull trigger double? or will it still just be 2
Landfall will trigger twice, once for each land that was put onto the battlefield.
However, in the case of Searing Blaze it replaces the effect of the spell with a new effect. So 1 and 1 damage would be replaced by 3 and 3, and then replaced again by 3 and 3. You'd just get 3 damage to a creature and 3 damage to a player.
Other landfall effects which are not replacement effects would fire off separately each time (say if you had a Hedron Crab on the battlefield, they would mill twice)

@Devonin: That's not quite how landfall works in this case. Replacement effects only ever apply once to a single event. Searing Blaze has a conditional replacement effect that checks to see whether landfall is "true" this turn. If it is, then the replacement effect applies. You can't reapply the replacement effect 1) because each replacement effect applies only once, and 2) because Searing Blaze just checks to see whether landfall is true, not to see how many times it happened this turn.
Triggered landfall abilities do trigger once for each landfall event, but they aren't relevant here.

so @Epochalyptik will it cause 6 damage instead of just 3?

@mmdw34: No. As I said, Searing Blaze checks whether landfall happened. If it did, the replacement effect applies once. If it didn't, the replacement effect does not happen. Beyond the first landfall, Searing Blaze does not care how many landfalls you got this turn.
