Rulings Question - Trostani Discordant/Dubious Challenge

Asked by Sheogoroth 4 years ago

Let's say I play Dubious Challenge.

It flips a Trostani Discordant, doesn't matter what the other pick is.

My opponent grabs the Trostani, it lands on the battlefield under their control, creating 2x 1/1 soldiers with lifelink.

My question is this- at the end of turn, Trostani's ability will flip her under my control because I own it, but will the two tokens also come under my control? Do I own them?

Dubious Challenge
Trostani Discordant

Your opponent "created" the tokens so they own them

In the future, please use the Rules Q&A section of this website if you have questions about rules, cards, or card interactions. That section of the site has some added functionalities, including the ability to "Mark as Answer" a post to indicate you no longer need assistance. I have taken the liberty of moving the post for you.

Also, please remember to link cards using double brackets:

[[Trostani Discordant]]

Just to build off greyninja's post, here is the relevant rule:

111.2. The player who creates a token is its owner. The token enters the battlefield under that player’s control.
