Rule: Wheel and Lion's Eye

Asked by noobino 9 years ago

Sorry if this is not in the right spot.. I tried to find a Rules Q board.

After I cast Wheel of Fortune can I sacrifice my Lion's Eye Diamond after the discard, but before the draw? Would this need Split Second?

You can't interrupt the cost and effect of a card. Once the costs are paid, the card effect begins and ends resolving entirely. Nothing can be played in between the text on an individual card.

So the stack resolves, then the next on the stack would be LED resulting in me discarding what I just wheeled into?

So this interaction would work in your favor, but would require you to cast Wheel with Diamond in play, then in response to wheel, crack diamond, discard, float three mana, then wheel resolves and you discard nothing then draw and have three mana up. You're discarding your hand to diamond, then you have zero cards to discard to wheel, but it'll still draw for you.

Assuming you have Lion's Eye Diamond in play and Wheel of Fortune in your hand, you can do the following:

Sorry to double post, but this kind of rules question should be asked in "Rules Q&A", which is linked up top on the full (not mobile) version of the site. On Mobile, it's in the three bar drop down menu, I believe.

I'm assuming this is for Nekusar. I used to play him at a very high level and I can say that I'm not too fond of the diamond. Yeah, it's great when it goes off and you can keep chaining wheels, but all too often I crack it for a color and end up needing mana of another color once I see the cards I drew from my wheel. Oh, and if that wheel gets countered, you will cry.

So the LED and Wheel become redundant once wheel is cast first, then crack resulting in 3 floating mana and a new hand.

Beautiful. Thanks!

My bad for the wrong thread. I must have missed it.

It is for Nek and I appreciate the feedback. I'm trying to maximize combo with Lum-Dul, Dreams, and other top of library tutors.

converted it into a question for you. Questions regarding rules and interactions generally go in the MTG QandA which is up at the top next to articles and forums unless you're on mobile, in which case it's at the bottom after you open the drop down menu. All you gotta do now is choose the answer you feel best answers your question.
