My opponent turned my that was equipped with a Runechanter's PikeMTG Card: Runechanter's Pike into a Frog using Turn to FrogMTG Card: Turn to Frog.

He thought that the +7/0 and first strike that were given to my Delver by the Pike would not apply to the Frog, because of the text on Turn to Frog. I image that +1/+1's, including counters will still apply to the Frog, as would the attributes given by the Pike.

He then argued that the Frog would not have the Pike equipped. I'm guessing that my Delver would be pissed once turned into the Frog. The Frog (a pissed off Delver in disguise) would be holding a Giant Pike and is still going to kill my opponent, because I'm assuming that changing the Delver into a Frog would not give it Summoning Sickness.

Let me know if I'm not understanding how Turn to FrogMTG Card: Turn to Frog works.

I'll probably be ninja'd, but I'm going to be thorough.

It never left the battlefield, so it will not have summoning sickness.

Let's go through the layers together:

Layer 1 - Copy effects: does not apply.

Layer 2 - Control-changing effects: does not apply.

Layer 3 - Text-changing effects: does not apply.

Layer 4 - Type-changing effects: is now a Creature - Frog.

Layer 5 - Color-changing effects: becomes blue, which is no change.

Layer 6 - Ability-changing effects: loses it's transform ability and loses first strike.

Layer 7a - P/T from CDAs: is a 1/1.

Layer 7b - P/T gets set: into a 1/1.

Layer 7c - P/T gets modified: gains +7/+0 from , which is an 8/1 blue Creature - Frog with no abilities.

The Pike gave the Frog +7/+0, but not first strike?
