Returning Controlled Creature to Owner's Hand
Asked by Bauhom 12 years ago
My Sower of Temptation allowed me to take control of Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief . Drana is my opponent's commander (EDH). He plays a boardwipe. In response, I use Snap to return Drana to my(?) hand. Then Sower dies along with everything else. Does Drana stay in my hand? What happens to her? Also, what if she wasn't my opponent's commander--would that change anything?
Thanks.

Snap didn't return Drana to your hand, it returned it to your opponent's hand. ("Return target creature to its OWNER'S hand").
Generally, it should not occur that a card from someone else's hand will end up in your hand, graveyard, or library.

Remember - there is a difference between "controller" - the person who controls the card, and "owner," the person who actually brought that card to the table as part of their deck.

As a note, you can never put a card you don't own into any of your hidden zones (library or hand).

"Owners" refer to the people whose decks the card started out in. Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief would end up back in your opponent's hand.
Commanders can only choose to move back to the command zone if they die or are exiled, not if they're put into a hand or library. So her being the commander changes nothing.
