Redirect

Asked by Kbra 12 years ago

I was attacked, so I played card:Druid's Deliverance and my opponent used Redirect and said he could prevent all his combat damage and populate.

I told him card:Druid's Deliverance did not say "target" and he couldn't use redirect (as stated in gatherer)

"However, if the targeted spell has no targets (for example, if it's an instant or sorcery spell that doesn't specifically use the word "target," or if it's a creature spell), Redirect won't have any effect on it." - Gatherer

But he and a friend stated that the use of the word "you" meant I was a target and he could redirect it to himself.

I would appreciate any clarification.

PS: Also happened with Rootborn Defenses

114.9b In particular, the word "you" in an object's text doesn't indicate a target.

Therefore, he can't Redirect the spell.
