Quicksilver Fountain

If Quicksilver Fountain is in play and my opponent has a flood counter on a forest making it an island. If Quicksilver Fountain is destroyed, does the flood counter stay, and is his forest still a basic island?

The rulings from Quicksilver Fountain state "The land stays an Island until the flood counter is removed, even if Quicksilver Fountain leaves the battlefield."
