Question on Bitter Ordeal and gravestorm

Asked by mmdw34 11 years ago

When using gravestorm, say I mill lingering souls and then I target it and remove 4 lingering souls, does this mean with gravestorm I get to choose 4 more different cards to exile along with all the other copies of them and the cycle keeps going? or how does gravestorm work?

First of all, the graveyard and exile are two different things, so when Bitter Ordeal exiles cards from a library, it wouldn't trigger Gravestorm in the first place.

Second of all, Lingering Souls is a sorcery card, and instant and sorcery cards cannot be permanents, so even if the first thing were untrue, exiling Lingering Souls wouldn't trigger Gravestorm.

Third of all, cards in libraries aren't permanents, they're cards. Permanents are cards or tokens that are on the battlefield.

Fourth and finally, how Gravestorm works is: When you cast the spell, it checks the amount of times a permanent (i.e, something on the battlefield) was put into the graveyard that entire turn. Then, for each of those instances, a copy of Bitter Ordeal is put onto the stack, which allows for you to exile another card from a target player's library.
