question about painful quandry

If I had painful quandry out and someone destroyed it would they still have to choose between losing 5 life or discarding a card since they cast a spell?

Yes. The ability triggers. Once it's triggered it is independent of it's source.

Yes. As long as Quandry is on the field, its effect applies to any casting of a spell. I order to remove the enchantment with, say, a Naturalize , they must still cast the spell first.
