Pyromancer Ascension and Cathartic Reunion

Situation: Pyromancer Ascension on the battlefield. Empty graveyard. At least 2 Cathartic Reunion in hand.
Question: Does Pyromancer Ascension's first ability trigger, if I discard a Cathartic Reunion for the additional cost of a Cathartic Reunion I cast?

Yes, since you pay additional costs on Reunion during the casting of the spell when nothing has priority, including triggered abilities. Ascension will only trigger after you finish casting the spell, by then the other copy will be in your graveyard.
