Purphoros and the Legendary rule
Asked by sexytaco 9 years ago
If I control a Purphoros, God of the Forge and I cast a second Purphoros, God of the Forge how will the legendary rule interact with the damage dealing effect of Purphoros.
Also If I control a Purphoros and I cast See the Unwritten picking 2 Purphoros, will I have to sacrifice them before they deal damage? Thank you

Shouldn't the second scenario generate four triggers? Two from the existing Purphoros, God of the Forge and one from each new Purphoros, God of the Forge ?

Nope.
(Yes of course you're correct Epoch, thanks.)

Of course, whether or not there are triggers in the examples depends on whether or not there's enough Red devotion to allow Purphoros to be a creature.

It'll still trigger the Purphoros already on the battlefield. The trigger will be generated, state-based actions will be checked, you'll have to put one of them in the graveyard, and then you can put the trigger on the stack. It doesn't matter which one you put in the graveyard.
The answer to the second situation is the same, except that the 2 new Purphoros will see each other entering and will trigger. You'll get a total of 3 triggers to put on the stack after you put 2 gods in the graveyard.
