If Riders of Gavony dies, does the protection stay, or go with it?

Riders of Gavony has a static ability. Unless otherwise stated, such an ability is only "active" while its source is on the battlefield.
If Riders of Gavony granted protection indefinitely, it would say "When ~ enters the battlefield, choose a creature type. Human creatures you control gain protection from creatures of the chosen type."

The Protection goes because it is no longer on the battlefield it is now a creature card in the graveyard. It would otherwise say while it's in the graveyard like Genesis .
