Progentius
Asked by TNTom2311 13 years ago
So me and my friend were arguing. I like the idea of a hydra deck, and was gonna make one. I was telling him cards I was thinking of using and Progentius was one of them. He said that Progentius is easy to kill. I said its not becasue it has protection from everything. He lists of cards like Damnation, Life's Finale, Day of Judgement, or any other field wipe card. Those are spells or instants. Progentius has protection from everything. Who is right?

Epochalyptik is correct as always. However, I'd say that your friend is both right and wrong. Yes, the cards he listed do destroy Progenitus , but if you have to drop a nuke to kill a single creature, it's most certainly not "easy" to kill.

xD
I had though of something like that... Sorta "This creature can't be affected by area effects"

that should be a new mechanic in magic, and wizards should begin to use an "area" as a representation of one or more non-targeted creatures that can die from Day of Judgment ,
it should be called Illusory (synonym of Evasive
Illusory - this card is unaffected by spells that does not target this card first.

and a reminder text could be (this card is unaffected by cards that use "all" and/or "each"

Simply "unaffected by spells that do not target" would suffice. I doubt they'd keyword it, it would be a cool ability on a Legend or something though.

still not all that easy
thoughs field wipe cards anrt ment to be used to take out just one card,
he would probly leave himself varnable if he used one just to take out your progentius and you could probly always bring him back being a green/black/white deck

Protection does not stop non-target destroy effects.
Protection follows the DEBT acronym:
Damage - All damage that would be dealt to a creature with protection from X by a source of quality X is prevented.
Enchant/Equip - A creature with protection from X cannot be enchanted or equipped by anything of quality X.
Blocking - A creature with protection from X cannot be blocked by a creature of quality X.
Targeting - A creature with protection from X cannot be targeted by a source of quality X.
Since those spells do not target, and Progenitus is not indestructible, nor is it being dealt damage, Progenitus can and will still be killed by them.
