[plated slagwurm] vs. [anowon, the ruin sage]
Asked by Calculusman08 12 years ago
I was just playing a game, and had [Anowon, The Ruin Sage] on my side of the field and my opponent had a [plated slagwurm]. Does my creatures ability force my opponent to sac plated slagwurm even though it has hexproof? Also, is a creature with hexproof immune to deathtouch?
Unless an ability specifically says "target", Hexproof doesn't stop it.

Hexproof only stops targeting, the ability targets no creature so Hexproof/shroud does nothing in this case

Hexproof only stops your creature from being targeted by spells or abilities your opponents' control. In this case, Anowon, the Ruin Sage 's ability does not target the creature. If the Plated Slagwurm is your opponent's only creature, then he/she would have to sacrifice it.
Deathtouch is not a targeted ability. It simply means that any damage done by a creature with deathtouch is considered lethal. That means that if your opponent attacks you with the Slagwurm and you block with a creature with deathtouch, the Slagwurm will die (assuming no other actions happen).
Hope this helps!
