Plated Slagwurm

Creature — Wurm

Hexproof (This creature can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.)

What a fun tribe to play with! The broad colors make it a bit tougher to run some of my suggestions so I completely understand if they did not make the cut.

First, my favorite wurm Plated Slagwurm, the 3 green is steep but depending on how Murder-happy your table is, the extra protection can come in handy.

Next, Garruk, Primal Hunter. Ultimate is on theme and adds some nice card draw and earlier game buddies for your wurms to hang out with. Again 3 green so I get it if mana is the issue here.

Some protection in the form of Heroic Intervention Rootborn Defenses and generation with Yavimaya Hollow and Asceticism. Help you avoid boardwipes ruining your day.

Plated Crusher and Plated Slagwurm are too mana expensive and you probably won't be able to cast them without some sort of ramp. You might be better off with Majestic Myriarch, Rubbleback Rhino, and/or Enshrined Memories.

I'd get two more Tinder Wall and two more Orcish Lumberjack in place of the Wild Cantors - they're much more explosive in terms of mana production.

For your big creatures, it might be wise to invest in things that protect themselves - Plated Slagwurm or Plated Crusher are good examples. You wouldn't want to sacrifice three creatures just to play a big one, only for your opponent to kill it immediately! I also like Deus of Calamity a lot, since if you can get him out fast enough, you can keep blowing up your opponent's lands before they can mount any kind of defense.

Not sure how I didn't +1 this at all yet, but thanks for coming up with this deck! I actually made this deck as the first deck I have ever owned for EDH. I made a few minor changes to it that you might like as well that are generally just better options.

Verdant Force > Siege Behemoth

1 CMC lower and 3 lower toughness for both Hexproof and the ability to either make Mimeoplasm pseudo unblockable, enable Mimeoplasm to be pseudo unblockable, and/or enable your entire field to be pseudo unblockable (especially off living death). Need more be said?

Plated Slagwurm > Archetype of Endurance

I saw that you were looking at this one already, and I would say its worth it putting it in. While it is a bit weaker body and 1 CMC higher, everything on your field can't be touched by targeting, and your opponents stuff can be, which opens them up to Avatar of Woe other people taking out their stuff (usually their commander).

Vivid Grove > Opulent Palace

Unless you are going to play something from another color, this is strictly better in every way and cheaper.

The other things I changed were things you had already suggested on the maybeboard or just cheaper options, such as Invisible Stalker for Looter il-Kor and Command Tower for Dryad Arbor. Either way, thanks you so much for making the deck!

Some cool cards for ya:

Aspect of Hydra for kicking enemies in the face, maybe Nylea's Disciple for survivability, Reverent Hunter for also kicking your opponents in the face, Skyreaping as a sideboard, Arbor Colossus is nice card in general, Nessian Game Warden for fetch (maybe), Terra Stomper because it's a straight upgrade to Plated Slagwurm

So Plated Slagwurm is kind of underwhelming. I think I might have to break Tribal a little and swap him out for Doomgape. It gets points for awesome artwork that fits in flavor and it's a 10/10 with Trample which is what the Slagwurm is really missing. Hexproof isn't as important as I thought it would be, at least in main board. It does still add 3 devotion to green which works great with Aspect of Hydra still. Flying on Evolution Charm also proved to be very important. I think I will have to also remove Descendants' Path, at least to sideboard, and replace those two slots with Sakura-Tribe Elder.

We've been playtesting and I think these tweaks will make bigger plays. Those were the only two cards that were kind of disappointing to draw because they just were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Path I only got in opening hands that were missing components of the combo and since I can't use it to my advantage until after I have a Wurm on the board I can't play it until after the first 5 turns because I need the first 5 to set up. I might remove it completely or just sideboard until I make up my mind.
