Can I redirect damage to my own planeswalker?

Asked by joga 14 years ago

Can planeswalkers take part of the damage done to you? Say, you've been a target of Chain Lightning, can you divert some of the damage to your planeswalker's loyalty?

Can planeswalkers take some combat damage that would be dealt to a player?

You cannot redirect damage to your own PW, no. This applies to both noncombat and combat damage.

This also applies both to sources an opponent controls (like your example of Chain Lightning , or any other damage spell) and to sources you control - so you can't cast Slagstorm , choose the 3 damage to all players option, and choose to have your PW take the damage instead of you.

If damage is done to you, you may not redirect damage to your own planeswalker.

Your opponent, however, may choose to redirect noncombat damage to your planeswalker. They may also declare combat damage to you or any of your planeswalkers.

Err, to clarify my last post. I mean to say the opponent may choose to declare attacks on you or any planeswalkers you control, combat damage is not redirected.

It suddenly occurred to me that it would be interesting if there were enchantment aura cards that would target a planeswalker......

That could be fun.

There are, just nothing that specifically says "enchant planeswalker" yet.

Yes. The quoted part is what I had in mind...an aura that can only be attached to a PW.

Meh, who knows, they now have a card in the new set that targets them from the hand.
