phytotitan discarded

I apologize if this is a "noob" question but if phytotitan is discarded out of the hand, does his ability trigger when he hits the graveyard and come onto the field?

Nope.

"Dies" is shorthand for "put into the graveyard from the battlefield." Compare to Loxodon Smiter or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre whose abilities do trigger when discarded.

Also, link cards with double brackets.

[ [ phytotitan ] ] (no spaces) = Phytotitan
