Permeating Mass and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
Asked by StuBi 8 years ago
I want to lay out two scenarios, to see if I have them correct.
Scenario 1
Opponent Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger attacks.
I Exile 20 cards, then block Ulamog with Permeating Mass
Ulamog becomes a copy of Permeating Mass, which means he is now a 1/3 and loses Indestructibility and his Exile ability
The Creature formerly known as Ulamog can now turn other Creatures into Permeating Mass
Scenario 2
Opponent Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet attacks.
I block Kalitas with Permeating Mass
Opponent gains 3 life, then Kalitas becomes a copy of Permeating Mass, which means he is now a 1/3 and loses Lifelink, and his other ability
The Creature formerly known as Kalitas can now turn other Creatures into Permeating Mass
Have I got it right?
OK so my Opponent with Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet will get a 2/2 Zombie as well ...

Correct.
Note that your Permeating Mass that's blocking Kalitas will be exiled per Kaltias's ability. This is because state based actions are checked before combat damage triggers go on the stack, so PM will die due to lethal damage but be exiled instead.
