Permeating Mass

Creature — Spirit

Whenever Permeating Mass deals combat damage to a creature, that creature becomes a copy of Permeating Mass.

Oh man well I gotta bring up Aegis Turtle again, I love that card and blue also gets you Sidisi's Faithful, Contraband Kingpin, and Deputy of Detention,

But Concealing Curtains  Flip is sweet, and what feels way back in the day I even ran Disowned Ancestor who was okay in board stalls,

God-Pharaoh's Faithful,

Lagonna-Band Trailblazer is cool with stuff like Shape the Sands,

And hear me out, a card that works great with both tower defense and ensnaring bridge is Ornithopter.

Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive does as well.

Gilded Goose gets sweet as your mana curve gets lower,

Permeating Mass cracks me up if you focus more on assault formation and High Alert, But ive never gotten around to trying it.

And I guess Brokers Initiate is just a strict upgrade to Yoked Ox with her mana sink?

Arboreal grazer is sweet I'd definitely keep him and some harbingers

And I know it's a non-bo with collected company but I gotta make the obligatory statement about how sweet Lingering Souls is with tower defense,

Though is it too slow nowadays even with bridge? Shit I feel old. At least it can chump a giant murktide for a while

707.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object’s characteristics and, for an object on the stack, choices made when casting or activating it (mode, targets, the value of X, whether it was kicked, how it will affect multiple targets, and so on). The copiable values are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by its face-down status, and by “as . . . enters the battlefield” and “as . . . is turned face up” abilities that set power and toughness (and may also set additional characteristics). Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects), status, and counters are not copied.

3) Copy effects are applied in layer 1, and then type change from Deep Freeze is applied in layer 4, color changing in layer 5, ability adding and removing in layer 6, and P/T setting in layer 7. The creature is a 0/4 blue and green spirit wall with defender and no other abilities.

613.1. The values of an object’s characteristics are determined by starting with the actual object. For a card, that means the values of the characteristics printed on that card. For a token or a copy of a spell or card, that means the values of the characteristics defined by the effect that created it. Then all applicable continuous effects are applied in a series of layers in the following order:

613.1a Layer 1: Rules and effects that modify copiable values are applied.

613.1b Layer 2: Control-changing effects are applied.

613.1c Layer 3: Text-changing effects are applied. See rule 612, “Text-Changing Effects.”

613.1d Layer 4: Type-changing effects are applied. These include effects that change an object’s card type, subtype, and/or supertype.

613.1e Layer 5: Color-changing effects are applied.

613.1f Layer 6: Ability-adding effects, keyword counters, ability-removing effects, and effects that say an object can’t have an ability are applied.

613.1g Layer 7: Power- and/or toughness-changing effects are applied.

4) Permeated Spawnwrithe. Both abilities trigger and go on the stack when combat damage is done. The active player's Spawnwrithe trigger will go on the stack first with the defending player's Permeating Mass on top of it. The stack will resolve FILO and the Spawnwrithe will be a copy of Permeating Mass by the time it's own copy ability resolves.

This is a lot of questions in one, but they all relate to layers and copy effects of two similar cards so I’m putting them together instead of a bunch of small questions.

The questions involve Permeating Mass, Spawnwrithe, Moonlace, Deep Freeze and Witness Protection from SNC.

1a) If a Permeating Mass is affected by Moonlace, are resulting clones also colorless?

1b) What about Spawnwrithe’s clones?

2a) If a Permeating Mass becomes enchanted by Witness Protection after dealing damage but before the trigger resolves, is the resulting creature also named Legitimate Businessman?

2b) What if it were Spawnwrithe?

3) If Permeating Mass deals damage to a creature enchanted by Deep Freeze style effect, what does the resulting creature look like?

4) If a Spawnwrithe tramples over a Permeating Mass, would the Spawnwrithe copy be a copy of the printed Spawnwrithe, or the Permeated Spawnwrithe?

Thanks!

If Mindlink Mech is crewed by a Permeating Mass, then the vehicle will become a Permeating Mass with base p/t of 4/3 that is also a vehicle with flying.

Then when the "Permeating Mass" deals combat damage to a creature, it would copy all of its own, current stats onto the other creature. So I'm pretty sure that the opponent's creature would also become a 4/3 artifact creature - vehicle spirit with flying and the ability to copy itself onto other creatures.

Haven't played in a while, but the minute I saw Mindlink Mech I instantly thought of Permeating Mass. Been trying to fit Permeating Mass into a Simic build for a while. But how does this work? I would assume that the creature damaged would become either a Mindlink Mech or a 4/3 Permeating Mass right? And I know this isn't good, but I might build a meme deck :D

There are lots and lots, but a few I like are Ophiomancer , Spellskite , Selfless Spirit , and Permeating Mass . Higher cost cards like Palisade Giant and Guardian of the Gateless are fine, too.

I really like that green has stuff like Progenitor Mimic , Scute Swarm , Spawnwrithe , Giant Adephage , and Permeating Mass , as well as Rhys the Redeemed . But I want a card like Brood of Cockroaches , Endless Cockroaches to be like that and Ogre Slumlord .

Cockroach Infestation

Creature - Insect

When a nontoken creature dies, at the beginning of the next end step, create a token copy of Cockroach Infestation.

1/1

This is designed to basically limit how combos using it can work. Also, it'll be amazing in a devotion deck, as every token is 3 devotion to black.

I'd like to see a White card that uses the Battalion/Mentor mechanic, and also creates token copies of itself, like Legion Warboss , making copies of itself, and monowhite.

Yoth Rut, Hive Vizier b/ru/ru/b

Legendary Planeswalker - Yoth Rut

Whenever an insect you control dies, put a -1/-1 counter on up to one target creature and draw a card.

0 create a 1/1 black insect creature token

-3 Tap X insects and place X loyalty counters on Yoth Rut, Hive Vizier

The symbols arent working, it keeps saying "Type symbol didn't return anything for 'b/r'" even though the correct symbol is showing up in the preview.

Create a card that duplicates itself in an interesting way or creates interesting situations by duplicating itself (think Permeating Mass or Jace, Mirror Mage)
