Outpost Siege stacking exile?
Asked by mailpip 10 years ago
Hey guys, I am sure someone smarter than me knows the answer to this: If I have two Outpost Sieges and I set them both to Khans, does the effect stack?
I ask because it seems like (and here comes my dumb) ... at the beginning of my upkeep both Sieges look at my deck and choose the top card as the target to exile. Since it is a time state (beginning of upkeep) when it is looking, I see how you could argue that they are both picking the same card to exile, no matter when the exile effect actually triggers. Then you stack the triggers, the first one goes and the top card gets exiled, the second one goes but that card has already been exiled, so it targets nothing.
I am sure that this probably isn't right, but can someone point me to a rule that would confirm my stupidity?
Thanks,
First one ability goes on the stack. Then the next ability. Therefore, it will first exile 1 card, and then the other Siege will exile another card!

At the beginning of your upkeep the trigger for both copies of Outpost Siege will go on the stack, resolve, and you'll be left with 2 cards in exile (before your draw phase) that you can play this turn.
Say you had 1 Outpost Siege and 1 Palace Siege calling Khans for both. Since the enchantments both have "at the beginning of your upkeep" clauses what happens is you choose which trigger goes on the stack first (resolves second) and which goes on the stack second (resolves first).
Hopefully that expounds on the concept of multiple abilities or effects triggering at once.

Rules questions to the Q and A section please. it's in the header where you see forums and stuff
As for the question. It's my understanding that you would exile two cards since it just says "the top card" which isn't really targeting anything.
