Here's where I'm going with this. If I have Drowner of Hope out and have it's scions tokens out will they produce waste mana like say abstruse interference's scions would? I'm just confused about the new waste mana card and I want to be prepared for it?

Everything that said

"Add to your mana pool."

got errata'd to

"Add to you mana pool."

Sol Ring now reads ": Add to your mana pool."

So yes, the "new" Scions produce the same kind of mana as the "old" ones.

The key thing to understand with the introduction of the symbol is that every card in existence works exactly the same way as it did before, but now there are new options for writing costs for spells and abilities.
