Nevinyrral's Disk activated in response to Merciless Eviction is this ok? my disc was untapped and I had the mana, my opponent played the Merciless Eviction choosing artifacts, so in response I activated the disc. I think this means my disc goes the graveyard before the exile effect happens and therefore finds no artifacts to target?

Yes. To clarify, lets set up a situation.
It's your opponents turn and they cast Merciless Eviction , as part of casting the spell (not a price but just a requirement of putting it on the stack) they choose from the options listed and decide on artifact. BEFORE it resolves opponents are given priority to respond, and it is here you activate disk at instant speed(activated abilities are at instant speed). your disk's ability is put above it on the stack, (note everyone but you gets priority again), it resolves first, THEN Merciless resolves, likely hitting no artifacts.

Yes, that works the way you want it to. Your opponent has to choose the mode for Merciless Eviction when they cast it. Before it starts resolving, you can respond by activating Nevinyrral's Disk . Anything that gets destroyed by the Disk (including itself) won't be around to be affected by Eviction when it finally starts resolving.
