Narset, Enlightened Master+Soulfire Grand Master

Asked by srk 9 years ago

So when you get an instant or sorcery to cast with an attacking Narset, Enlightened Master, can you pay Soulfire Grand Master's mana ability cost, to bring that card to your hand, Correct? If not, why?

Soulfire Grand Master doesn't have a mana ability.

A mana ability is an ability that doesn't have any targets, isn't a loyalty ability, and adds mana to a player's mana pool.

Anyway, the answer is no. Soulfire Grand Master's ability says "The next time you cast an instant or sorcery spell from your hand . . ."

The cards you cast with Narset, Enlightened Master are in exile.

Will those cards remain in exile after they have been cast, or do they goto the 'yard?

The ability doesn't specify that anything happens to them, so they're treated like any other spells. Remember that to cast them, you need to take them out of exile and put them onto the stack. When they resolve, they'll go to your graveyard (unless they have an effect that specifies otherwise).

Importantly, you can't recast them even if they do return to exile. Whenever an object changes zones, it becomes a new object. Narset, Enlightened Master's ability stops tracking a card the moment it leaves exile.
