Nacatl War-Pride + Populate

Asked by lil_cheez 11 years ago

Nacatl War-Pride creates tokens that will be exiled after combat. But what if one ot this tokens is copyed during combat or in response to the exiling ability? Will the token still be on the battlefield? Will the token have the same abilities of the original Nacatl?
Please ignore that strange situation where "iIf Nacatl War-Pride becomes a copy of something else after the ability triggers but before it resolves, the tokens will enter the battlefield as copies of whatever the ex-Nacatl War-Pride is now"

Cheers from Cheez!

The new token will stay on the battlefield, and will have all the same abilities of the original Nacatl War-Pride . The exile effect isn't a property of the token itself, but of the effect that makes the token. If another effect (such as populate or Rhys the Redeemed ) makes another of that token, the new token will not have the exile effect associated with it. It makes for a really nasty combo, and is actually one of the main win conditions of my Selesnya EDH deck (GW - Trostani, Selesnya's Voice).
