Mutavault and Champion of the Parish

I'm pretty sure this doesn't work, but if you had a Champion of the Parish on the field and you played a Mutavault and immediately paid the mana to turn him into a creature, the Champion wouldn't get a counter, right?

Correct. The Mutavault doesn't enter the battlefield as a creature, it just 'animated' into a creautre, so it doesn't trigger Champion of the Parish
