Multiple extra turns at once?

Asked by IzzetMtG 7 years ago

If I cast Temporal Trespass and Time Walk in the same turn, what happens when I end my turn? I obviously get another turn, but then after I end that turn do I get a second extra turn, or does Time Walk's ability fizzle for some reason? (Note: I just chose those two spells for convenience, the question is the same with any extra turn effects or abilities.)

The turn order will look like this for you if you cast Time Walk first and then Temporal Trespass:

It's in this order because when a second extra turn effect is applied, it "pushes" the first one backwards and makes itself the next one to come.

To put it bluntly and simply, you get 2 extra turns.

You get a second extra turn.

It goes like this:

Whichever spell resolves first (let's say Temporal Trespass) will create an extra turn for you directly after the turn you are in. Then later in the turn you play Time Walk. Time Walk also creates an extra turn immediately after this one, and since it resolved second, this extra turn comes in between the turn you are in and the one created by Temporal Trespass.

In this case there's nothing special about either extra turn, so they're pretty much indistinguishable, but the ordering is more relevant when you're using something like Savor the Moment, or when multiple players are getting extra turns (Hive Mind).
